it's about love

We were able to hear Tamra talk at the FSA Conference. She is amazing.
What a great story of adoption! To read more about her story, click here.

Do you let the rain take care of it?

Man, I was doing so well, now it's been almost a week since I have posted.
Not much has been going on this week.

I am sure you have noticed that I tried something new on my blog.
I am not a very good blog designer, but it was fun and will do for a week or two. You know me.
There just aren't layouts out there for wide three column blogs. :P

But I did find this funny:
Question for today:
Do you wash your car? Or let the car was do it?

I usually go to the self serve car washes, so that basically counts as doing it yourself.
In the summer we usually wash them in the drive way.

no doubt.

My super cool friend Marci (aka NoDoubtMarci) alerted me to the fact that No Doubt is going on tour this summer!! Apparently she is a fanatic! And who doesn't love Gwen? Love her! Who else would they be going on tour with, you ask? That would be Paramore. (I am thinking anyone who liked the Twilight movie is a fan of Paramore. Love them! Think Decode) Awesome. And so exciting!

Question for the day: Where were you 9.11.01?

I was in bed. I was having a dream of a plane hitting the twin towers. I wake up to find that my alarm was actually going off (the radio) and they were talking about the breaking news. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on. Was it really only a dream? Or actually happening? I ran into the TV room and turned on the TV. It was definitely not a dream. I was glued. For hours. Days. Weeks. I was watching the TV when the second plane hit. After watching for a few hours, I headed off to school.  Listening all the way of course. All my classes were cancelled. I went into the student center and watched some more. Could this really be happening? I went to work that evening at Smead. As soon as it was break time, we were all glued to the TV some more. What a devastating day in history that I will never forget.

A day of history.

What a day.

It's a little bitter sweet to wave goodbye to George W. Bush as he flies away.
He did a lot for our country during terrible times. I know in the last few years his popularity has drastically decreased, but at one point he was just what this country needed. I appreciated his service to this wonderful country during the past eight years. What a huge burden off his shoulders.

But what a new day, full of hope for a lot of people. I hope President Obama does great things in this country. Congratulations President Obama. Today starts a new day.

Question for today: Did you get to watch the inauguration? What was your favorite part?

I did. It was really neat to see all the people that were in attendance. Michelle and her kids were cute and fun to watch. It was good to see them all interact and to watch Malia pull out her camera and take pictures of the event. What a life they will lead.
And holy people batman! Sheesh! They say there were between 1.8-3 million there... but I never got to hear a more accurate number. Wow, that is a lot of people!

Tick-tock.

We are tending the twins tonight. It has been a good day. We played, went to Mc D, gave the twins a bath, and now they are currently in bed, hopefully falling asleep.

I don't have a lot to say tonight, but here is the question for the day.

Do you wear a watch? What kind?

I do not currently wear a watch. I need to and I wish I did, but my watch battery is dead. I never remember to get a new battery. It is a Fossil watch.
The tricky thing is that I can not let the metal on the watch touch my skin or I get hives or a big itchy rash. The watch I have now is pretty good since it is a full piece of leather with the face on top of the leather. I love it. It's super cute!! It even has this fancy feature where you can push the side button and it goes to a mirror background, push it again and it has flowers on it. I really need to get a new battery.

Sad day.

My Chi died. :(
Luckily they are a LOT cheaper now then they were when I got mine 6 years ago.
I miss it already.

(Does anyone know a really good straightener that I could buy at Wal-Mart? Which one is the best for stubborn FRIZZY hair?)

But on a happier note...

Question 4: Do you always wear a seatbelt?

Answer: Yes. Sometimes I try to be stubborn and drive the short 3 or 4 block trip... but in the end I usually end up putting it on no matter what, just so I can stop thinking about it and freaking out about it.

Fishlake Fun!

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Here fishy, fishy.

Yeah, that didn't work. We went Ice Fishing two days in a row and caught zero fish. Well technically my dad and Tina caught a fish today, but Dustyn and I did not. But we had a fabulous time fishing! It was such a nice warm day! Even though we had a tent and all to keep warm, we didn't even use it. :)

We moved around a little and tried new holes. Nothing. A couple people drove up, drilled a few holes and caught 7 fish just like that. Easy-peasy. They packed up and left. Dustyn and I went over and fished in their holes for a while. Nothing. Nothing at all. My dad caught a fish so we moved on over closer to him. Some more people came over and used the holes we had just left. Yep, that is right. They start catching them right and left. The people that drilled next to them, 14. We were so close we could hear them say, "Man, they are biting anything!"  Uhm... really? Cause they don't seem to like whatever we have. And we tried everything.

Tina and Jace finally started wandering and using other people's holes that were drilled earlier in the day. She barely dropped her line in and caught a fish. Lucky! So we start wandering finding holes and waiting and waiting. Nothing. It just wasn't our day to fish I guess.

On Friday we went up to Fishlake. The ice up there is so cool! It is clear and quite creepy... but oh so fun! We were sliding EVERYWHERE! So fun! I have video that I am going to try and upload now.

But until then, let's get to the question of the day!

Question 3: Have you ever run out of gas in your car?

Answer: Yes. Once. Last Christmas.
My parents were out of town and we had nothing to do and wanted to go get a drink. We knew we were low on gas but of course we weren't able to buy any since it was Christmas. We decided that we better head on over to Flying J (we had forgotten completely about them before) and get some gas. We never made it there. And it was COLD. Of course it was the one time we had BOTH left our cell phones home. It was freezing. So off we go, trekking to Flying J. Oh yeah, we were not dressed warm either. We finally get there, frozen, and convince them to let us borrow the phone. We had to call my parents to find out my little brother's cell phone number. We finally get ahold of him and he comes and rescues us. Fun times for sure. We will never live that one down. :P

I can be random.

Just cause I know you wanted to see my fine face on this fine friday! (i heart my webcam)
So first off, I am already loving the daily question! Thank you so much for playing along! But we will get to that later.

Are you so excited that Nie is back! Wow! It good to know she is recovering! Of course, I have to admit that I had never heard of her before the accident, but I have a feeling I am going to start reading daily.

Speaking of plane accidents, wasn't that pilot/rescue effort in the Hudson River amazing? I just watched and was glued to the TV as everything went down. Even though I bet it was completely scary for those on board, it totally left me with a happy feeling! I love when things go perfect.

Oh, oh. I keep forgetting to mention that for some reason our url for Parent Profiles isn't working and goes to the PP home page. So if you are wondering why our adoption button seems to be advertising PP, that is why. I have emailed them and they are working on the problem. Until then you can use this link.
Hopefully it will get working soon! Otherwise there are a LOT of pass-along cards out there are that advertising Parent Profiles. Ha ha.

Have I mentioned how excited I am to go on our Cruise? The countdown is on! Yay! Then I can show you my super bargains on my dress! But not until then, sorry.

I have been getting SO many lame spam emails lately. You know the ones. Give me all your personal info and I will send you 100 bizzilion dollars. Love those.

Dustyn and I decided that it would be fun to have a camcorder when we go on the cruise. We have been going to buy one for awhile, but just haven't. We finally bought one. Here it is. Dustyn designed it himself. I really like how it turned out. I told him I wanted black, red, and white stars. He did good! Oh yeah, and those little flip cameras? They are pretty cool.

We finally bought some new luggage! Yay! Well we only got one suitcase each, but they are super nice! The suitcases we have been using (the one from Dustyn's mission that is 15 years old) doesn't have the best zippers. I am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. Now I am the owner of a nice Jeep suitcase. It did help that it was in clearance in Walmart. I love me a good bargain.

And, we bought the cutest orange/yellow polka-dot ribbon to help us identify our luggage quickly... so if you are going on the cruise to the Mexican Riviera when we are, chose another color. ;)

If anyone has suggestions on what I need to know to have the best time ever on a cruise, let me know! I would love to hear what you have to say.

Oh, oh! And I also bought a bag full of tomatillos yesterday. Anyone know a super good recipe? I love the flavor of them, but I haven't decided what I am going to make with them. I mean I could always make soup, but I am willing to try something new. So if you have a favorite recipe, let me know.

I think Dustyn and I might get to go to Steve's tonight! I am so excited! We are going for our anniversary! I know you are thinking... hey wasn't that like a week ago? Why, yes it was. We went to SLC, but decided to just eat out somewhere not so exciting and to come home and go to Steve's. We might finally make it.

Which brings me to our anniversary. We decided to go to Body Worlds! I was so, so excited. Dustyn bought tickets the week before to make sure that we would be able to get in (since it was the 2nd to last day of the exhibit). Once we got up there, I looked at the tickets and noticed that they said Jan 5th, not Jan 10th. Apparently something happened in the ordering process and the tickets were for the wrong day. They could not change the day, so we were out the tickets and the money. :P  So frustrating! We could have paid to go again I am sure, but I didn't want to pay double to go see the exhibit. So we didn't get to go. :P Instead we went shopping and bought a few outfits for me for the cruise. Well... a dress. I have nothing formal to wear, but I do now! Well... semi-formal. That is as fancy as I get right now. Once we were finished shopping, we went to Sweet Tomatoes to eat. It was okay, but not as good as normal. But we topped it off with some frozen yogurt from Red Mango, so that made it all worth it. We didn't even have to share!

Okay, my laptop is about to die, that means that it is time for me to get in the shower and be productive today! Yes, it is almost 11 and I have yet to shower OR be productive. But for now, here is your question for the day:

Question 2: What was your most favorite class in school? (high school or college)

Answer: Hmm...  of course I really liked all my math classes in high school. But some of my favorite classes were Mr. Walser's classes and Mr. William's classes in college. They were Criminal Justice classes that were quite interesting. I mean who doesn't want to listen to personal cop stories for two years. It was a fun major, for sure!

Have a lovely Friday!

Something fun for a new year!

I really haven't had much to blog about lately. I know that one of these days that will change and I will have so much to say... but lately that is just not the case.

One of my friends, Heather, has been adding a daily question to her posts. I thought that would be a really fun thing to start on my blog. Hope you don't mind me stealing your idea Heather. :) But at least if I have nothing to say, at least we can talk about some random question! Ha ha!

So I will be posting some sort of a question every day (hopefully). Feel free to answer! It will be fun to get to know my readers a little better and maybe even get some lurkers to be brave and comment. If you don't want to answer all of them, that is fine too. I am super excited to read everyone's answers! Yay!

Day 1: Who was the last person that you visited in the hospital?

My Answer: My niece Kelsey! We went to visit her cute baby boy and my very first great nephew!

New Years Baby!

Yes, I am finally getting around to posting about New Years. Better late than never, right?

This year our friends Greg and Arianne come down to bring the New Year in. I turned out to be a lot of fun! (at least I thought so!) And of course I didn't take many photos. I have really slacked off in that department lately. :P

Greg and Arianne arrived around 3:30 on Wednesday. We hung out, chatted and just caught up on life. It was good to hang out with them again. I decided to make an early dinner so that we would be able to snack on yummy snacks all night. Arianne come in to help/chat with my while the boys played the Wii. We made Hawaiian Haystacks. They were alright, but don't you hate how when you are cooking for someone else, nothing seems to turnout how you wanted it? :P Oh well, luckily they survived. :) After dinner we ran up to my parents house to watch the kids open their presents. It was good to see the kids and hang out with them.

We headed back to our house and I made a few snacks. Spinach Dip with bread, Cranberry Salsa on Cream Cheese with crackers, and veggies. Of course the Cranberry salsa was my favorite. I love that stuff!

Once the food was ready, we decided to let the games begin! We played Boxers and Briefs. That game is so funny. I love it.

Then it was off to become Guitar Heros! We ended up playing Guitar Hero all night. We turned it off long enough (like 2 minutes to midnight) to watch the ball drop.
Miss A is even a Guitar Hero!
Dustyn is very serious about his guitar skills! I love how he gets into it.
Arianne even gave it a try!
Miss A even got to drive on the race track! Dustyn must think she is pretty cool!
There were so many cute pics of her, but they didn't work to well. :P
Dustyn playing Miss A's favorite game of the night. Spoons!
The last minute of 2008! YAY!
It's now officially 2009!

Miss A stayed up and brought in the new year with us. Once it was all over she went to bed. We played Guitar Hero for a few more hours. Finally it was bed time... but not for Dustyn and I. We played Dr. Mario for awhile and then chatted all night. lol. We finally went to bed sometime after 3:00. Fun night for sure.

Thursday morning!! I made German Pancakes and bacon. Remember how every time I use my oven the smoke alarm goes off, even if nothing is burning at all? Yah, they got to listen to my smoke alarm all morning. I finally turned it off. I really need to move it a little. It is totally in the wrong spot. :P

Greg and Arianne decided to stay one more night. We were excited.  That means more games! We are totally games sort of people. Love them! My mom got a new game over the holidays called Quelf. If you have not played this game before, you should. It is CRAZY!  Crazy I tell you. We decided to play Quelf. It was fuuuny. My abs definitely had a work out. Wow. Crazy game. You really should give it a try.
Miss A helping Greg out with one of his stunts! :)
Greg and Arianne would rather color than play Quelf?!?!

For dinner we had soup and salad. Miss A helped me make the breadsticks. Yum! It turned out pretty well. Then we played more games. I don't really remember what, besides Racko, but it was a good time anyways.

Friday morning we had breakfast and then Greg and Arianne left around 10-ish.

It really was a fun weekend! Thanks for coming down guys! Come again! Soon.

I hear singing...

One of my friend, Aubrey, showed this to me today.
I love it. (it's funnier if you click on it)
If you know me, you know this is true.
Just ask my mom. :)

Things I am going to work on for 2009!

I decided that I don't want to make resolutions, so this year I am going to "work" on a few areas in my life. Any progress is progress. Most of these things are things that I need to work on over my entire life, so this is just a yearly reminder for me. (in no particular order)

~ Work on getting out of debt. Have a real savings account. Become more thrifty.
~ Come to know my Savior more. Pray more intently, Study more, improve temple attendance.
~ Eat more healthy. Move more.
~ Be more productive in my spare time, and don't worry, I have plenty.
~ Love Dustyn more completely. Serve him everyday.

I am SO excited for 2009 and the unknown and wonderful/scary/hard times that are ahead.

Happy 2009! May it be one of the best.
