Joseph - A Nashville Tribute to the Prophet

Tonight I went to a concert at the Event Center. They started out with a band called Due West. They were great. I really enjoyed them. I guess one of the guys is from Richfield. Good Husband!

WIND!

It is sooo windy today... the whole valley is a big dust bowl! You can't go outside without ruining your hair or getting dust in your eyes... Thankfully I always wear my hair up, so the wind doesn't bother my hair, just my eyes! But It's kinda a gloomy depressing day. If it would rain or storm it would be fine, but the wind is miserable!

Cinnamon Rolls

Yesterday Dustyn wanted some Cinnamon Rolls, so I made some. They were sooo good. I just ate one for lunch.... and no this is not helping me loose weight. Oh well. It sure was worth it though! :) So if anyone wants a good, fast, easy Cinnamon Roll Recipe... this is a good one. (I use a bread machine)

Cinnamon Rolls
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
6 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup raisins (optional)
3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons milk

In saucepan, heat 1 cup milk, water, and 1/4 cup butter until very warm
(butter doesn't need to be completely melted). Place milk mixture,
salt, flour, yeast, sugar, and eggs in the pan of the bread machine in
the order suggested by the manufacturer. Select the Dough cycle. Press
Start.

Once Dough cycle is complete, remove the dough from the bread machine.
Punch down, and divide into 2 parts. On a floured surface, roll each
part into a large rectangle. Smear each rectangle with the softened
butter. Combine the cinnamon and 3/4 cup sugar. Sprinkle over the
rectangles. Generously sprinkle the raisins and/or chopped nuts over
the top.

Roll the dough up into two logs starting at the long side. Cut each log
into 12 slices. Place the rolls cut side down into two 9x13 inch
greased baking pans. Cover, and let rise in a warm place until almost
doubled (about 30 minutes).

Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 20 to 25
minutes, or until golden. Combine the confectioners' sugar, 3
tablespoons melted butter, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons milk. Frosting
should be thick. Spread over baked rolls and enjoy.

YUMMY! :)

Piute Reservoir

Today (Saturday) Dustyn, Bruce and I went to Piute Reservoir to go fishing. We tried to fish for a little while, but the wind was blowing and so we gave up and basically just hung out. It was nice and relaxing. Bruce kept peeing all over, marking his territory I guess... but man oh man... he left a pile of poop that will make anyone gag... and it was right up wind. So we spent the whole day smelling wonderful Bruce smells. I was quite surprised, when we got to the lake he went to get a drink and basically plunged into the lake. It was pretty funny.... then we had the lovely wet dirty dog smell as well. A day full of smells. But lots of fun.

We took a little camp stove and made potatoes with onions and bacon... and bratwurst with sauerkraut and mustard! YUMMY! Good stuff! Then we just hung out and complained about the smells coming from Bruce (well at least that is what I did).

Here are a few pictures... i was going to take some good ones, but Dustyn forgot that he took the batteries out of the camera bag awhile ago and never replaced them... so at the last minute I remembered that I had my camera phone... but the sun was in my eyes. But they kinda turned out. Dustyn was trying to get Bruce to look at the camera. Not an easy task when you are trying to make a 200 lb animal do anything.

Camo

Well we got our car back today. It is all shiny and new. Now we are just going to put it up for sale before I get the chance to wreck it again.... so if anyone knows anyone that wants an 2005 Toyota Camry, let me know! It's a great car and I love it, but I guess we need to do the financially smart thing and sale it so we can afford to adopt a baby. Isn't life so much fun.

So this is the dog that we bought my parents for Christmas. His name is Camo (bet ya can't guess why?). Anyways he finally got a hair cut today. He is about 4 months old now. He used to look so crazy and well.... not groomed. But now he is pretty cute. They left the hair on his underneath so they could grow it out. But I really like his mustache, eyebrows and his cute little face. MUCH cutter than he used to be! He was pretty scraggly before!

CamRee and Tryen

I was looking at my sister blog, and I had to steal this picture.
A couple months ago, Tryen got tubes in his ears and CamRee had her tonsils removed. I think this picture is so funny. They both look scared to death. I just think it's cute! Of course everything turned out fine and they recovered quickly... Tryen barely noticed he had anything done.

Strawberries and Oreo

Last night, Dustyn and I made Oreo and Strawberry Shakes. They were sooo good. We like to use the Dryers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream. It is soooo good.

Sugar

This weekend I ate sooo much sugar. My tongue still feels funny. On Friday we went to Provo and ate at Zupas. I love that place. It is soooo good. But I had the strawberry spinich salad with a vinegarette dressing(which started the sugar fest). Then we went to Leatherbys. Dustyn and I shared Gretchen's Golden Nugget! MY FAVORITE! MORE SUGAR!!! YUM!! On Saturday we went shopping. We went to Deseret Book to get a YW help book for Personal Progress (BTW I am the Personal Progress Leader in my Ward and I could use any help I could get if anyone has ideas. I don't know how to encourage the girls with the new Personal Progress program). They had a little thing of butter mints (I CAN'T RESIST THEM) by the counter. They were made by the Lion House Pantry... even better, so we bought them. They were the best mints I have ever had! YUMMY! Since they were so good I just kept eating them. Bad bad. Oh well.

We also went to the International Sportsman Expo at the South Towne Expo Center. It was a lot of fun and we saw a lot of cool things. I probably ate more sugar, but I can't remember.

We saw this cool Ford GT. I was taking a picture of Dustyn when this guy offered to take one of both of us... Hello? Apparently he doesn't know how.... just kidding. But it's a bad picture huh? Would have been nice if he would have been holding still!

We also saw some Hummers and H2 and H3s. The are pretty cool. And some cool Jeeps! Fun stuff!

After the Expo we went to Mimi's Cafe to eat with my parents. I had another salad with another Vinegarette dressing just to finish off with some Sugar. But it was really really good!

Spring!

I am so excited for spring. It has been in the mid 70's this week. It has been so nice. Plus, there is an extra hour of daylight after I get off work... so yesterday we had a picnic outside and started working on our yard... getting all the leaves and twigs cleaned up that were left over from fall. We barely touched it, but it sure was fun to be outside! Then we went and bought some strawberries, rhubarb, and red onions to plant! We also got this hanging plant thingy for our front porch and planted flowers in it... I am sure it will have to spend some time in the garage for awhile, but I am still super excited!

Wild Hogs

I promise this is the last post today! So we decided to go to the movie tonight and we went to Wild Hogs (of course the only choice in this town). Well I don't think that I have seen Dustyn laugh so hard and so much in a movie, ever! It was really funny and I enjoyed it quite a bit! There were a few bare bum and scantly dressed women scenes that I could have done without, but it was really funny. A lot funnier than I expected, so if you enjoy funny biker movies, you should go see it!

Sanjaya

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS AMERICA THINKING! WHO IS VOTING FOR SANJAYA???

This is my question for today! (I will get mad if he stays again next week)

Baby Stuff

So this is some of the stuff that I picked out when we went baby shopping the other day. I have no idea if these are good products or not since I don't have a lot of experience with what is good or bad and things you should look for when you are buying baby equiptment.

Anyways, the playpen has a changing table thingy and a seperate bassinet that you can use in the playpen or on a seperate stand. I thought this would be a convienient product, any objections?

This is the stroller that I picked out. Of course we are not buying anything gender specific, first of all because we have no idea if we will be having a boy or a girl and further more, hopefully down the road there will be more than just one. I don't love the color of these... there is one that I like a better (Gray and Lime Green ... imagine that :) ... but it's hard to fine. This actually looks better in person thatn pictures. Anyways, i played with a lot of the strollers and this one seemed to have the most and easy to use features. Now I have no idea if it really is, but if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to comment!

And this is the car seat, of course it goes with the stroller. I like it.

American Idol

So does anyone else watch American Idol? I was wondering what ya'll thought... who is your favorite? I like all the usuals, Blake, Chris(both), Jordin, LaKisha, Phil, and whoever else that everyone likes. But I think this season, my favorite has to be Gina Glocksen. She rocks. I don't think she'll win, but I think she is pretty good and different and that is what I like about her!

Now, who thinks that Sanjaya should have gone home a long time ago? That would be me!

Tim and Faith

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are going on tour again. I am quite excited and I am hoping that we can afford to go when the time comes! They are coming to UTAH! YEAH!!! June 13th, I think @ the Delta Center! I am excited. We went last year and they were great!

Carrie

Today I went to Carrie's Memorial Service. It was really nice and there were so many fun memories that her family shared with us. She was a wonderful person that warmed the hearts of many. She had a wonderful smile and that was the one on thing you couldn't forget about Carrie. When I worked with her, she was always smiling and giggling. You couldn't be in a bad mood around her. She was always so helpful and always accomplished everything that I asked her to do. She cleaned rooms for me for awhile and did a great job... sometimes it was hard to find anything wrong with them. When they needed a front desk person, I knew she was the one that would do a great job, so she went to the front desk. But she always had all the left over laundry folded for me when I got there in the morning. I always appreciated her.

I am proud of her for all the accomplishements that she had made in the past year. She really had things in order and had a goal in mind. She will be missed. Especially her smile.

Sad News

I just got some really sad news. I don't know how many people know the Curtis' from Richfield... but Ruthanne Curtis was one of my really good friends when I lived in Cedar City. Her sister Carrie (19) worked for me for awhile when i worked at Hampton Inn (then she moved to the front desk). Well Carrie was engaged and was on her way to St. George to pick up some things for her wedding. She got in a car accident and was killed. It makes me so sad. Her family is in my ward and I know most of them pretty well. I don't know what to do for them besides keep them in my thoughts and prayers. I am not very good with dealing with death, but then again who really is. The only comforting thing is knowing there is life after death and that families can be forever. It's such a tragic event and it impacts the whole community. I hope and pray her family and her fiance is comforted at this tragic time.

The Weekend.

So after it was all said and done, the weekend actually turned out to be a pretty good one. I saw lots of friends and it was fun to catch up.

We are now the proud owners of a 1989 Honda Civic. I am pretty excited about it. It's a fun little car. It's in good shape and I am happy to have it. So that will be our transportation until the Camry gets fixed... and even then I will probably drive it around to save gas. It gets 35 MPG. Hopefully we will eventually get our Camry sold, there was just a little bump along the way.

Our day of fun and relaxation... or something like that.

My, my, what a dandy day we've had. Dustyn and I decided to go to Cedar City for the weekend. My friend Nicole was having her baby blessed, so I thought, hey it's been a tough month, why not make a weekend out of it and just take some time to relax. What a grand idea. So after work we decided to head on down to Cedar. We were heading south on the freeway, just past Parowan and all of a sudden the car passing me starts to slow down... so I start slowing down as well just to be cautious. Well all of a sudden I see two deer run in front of us... so I slow down more. I thought we were safe... then out of nowhere came a deer. The car next to us clipped it, then of course... we had a dead center solid hit.... nice! Our nice new Camry isn't so nice anymore. Poor car. We watched the deer as it slammed into our car in slow motion and then did a few fashionable flips in perfect form onto the side of the road. Poor deer. Luckily the exit was right there.... so we pulled of and went back into parowan to see the extent of the damage. Not so great. So we added enough fluids to make it to Cedar City and here we are. Such a great start to a nice relaxing weekend.

So Dustyn and I decide that we wanted something to eat. So we started walking down main and walking and walking and walking. It was a great time. It was so stinkin cold and the wind was blowing and neither of us had a great jacket.... so we walked and walked. Of course nothing was open. So finally after we got to about Hogi Yogi, we turned around and walked to IHOP. We finally made it after walking for an hour. (We started out at the Best Western by Godfather's Pizza).

(Michelle) So while eating at IHOP, I saw one of our old SMEAD friends. Randy Dulaney. Funny huh? I thought that you would get a kick out of that... i did. So on the way home from walking everywhere.... what do I do? That's right... sprain my ankle just in time to walk 8 more blocks. Nice.

So now the tow truck is here to take our poor car home. Luckily he was nice enough to bring my Tacoma so that we would have something to drive over the weekend... so there is still a chance to have some fun and relaxation, after all it's only Friday!

So that was our marvelous day... sure help out our finances! Oh well. Such is life.

Ward Party!

Tonight our ward had an adult ward party. It was a lot of fun. It was an "escape the blues, get-a-way cruise". When we first arrived, they had collected pictures of some of the members from our ward from when they were younger. We all went around and guessed to see if we could tell who they were. After that we ate and visited. Then we played a version of the newly wed game. Dustyn and I were forced on the stage to play. There were like 15 couples or so. Going into it I thought, oh we'll do just fine... I mean it's not like we are actually "newlyweds". They first sat the women down and gave us cards with answers on both sides. Then they asked the men a series of questions, such as . . .
does your wife like salty or sweet?
potato or corn chips?
always late or on time?
regular or low fat?
pearly whites or full of fillings?
mess maker or clean up?
flowers or candy?
We would hold up the card to see if they guessed correctly or not.

Then we switched places and they asked the women questions about thier husbands such as . . .
always right or never right?
early riser or snoozer?
meatloaf or prime rib?
help with housework or watch TV?
optomist or pessimist?
master or servant?
she's the smart one or he's the smart one?

There were quite a few more questions, but I can't remember them. It was a lot of fun, but there were a lot of "loaded" questions that made you a little nervous to answer. I think I have forgotten all the really good ones, oh well.

So anyways, they gave a prize to the winners. There was a couple in our ward that got every question correct! WOW!
And then a prize to the loosers.... bet you can't guess who won that prize.... that's right, WE DID! I was so proud of us!
Actually I felt quite stupid... the whole ward looking on like... man they really know each other. But that's alright, we got a prize for loosing! :) It was still a lot of fun though! Although we did tell the ward a lot of secrets! (not really :) )

Guess we need to get to know each other a little more before the next game! :)
