It's official...

You can now safely call my husband a resident of Sevier County.
Yes, he handcrafted this bow rack with his own two hands.  (He even found the antlers)  Nice, aye?

(and of course, I am totally kidding and just teasing Dustyn.  Sevier County rocks!)

A post of randomness.

I finally got all the Christmas decor taken down and cleaned up! I am so excited, because it seems like most years I put it off until after the new year. This year I can focus more on partying in the New Year and not having to worry about getting the cleaning done before Monday. Nice. Very nice!

These cool people are coming to our house for New Years! I am so excited. I hope they don't get too bored with our po-dunk town. lol Either way, we can party hard, play lots of games and eat lots of food!

The one part that I do not like about winter - dry skin. Ouch. I have so many cracks on my hands and I am horrible about applying lotion consistently. It is a habit that I need to develop. Is there such thing as waterproof lotion? I wash my hands far too much during the day.

Speaking of ouch, and hands... yesterday when I was packaging up some lights in a cardboard box, I got a BAD cardboard cut on my palm. Ouch! Gotta love those, aye Michelle? Takes you right back to the good 'ole days at Smead. Ugh.

My legs ache today. You know, like "growing" pains ache, but times ten. Ouch. I hope it passes soon. Guess I was on my feet a little too long yesterday.

So one time I read in a blog post that you are only suppose to put one space after a period now-a-days. (And she's smart. And a better reporter than I would ever be.) I really, really, really try hard to do it, but I seriously cannot change the habit that I developed all those many years ago. How do you fix a habit like that? Seriously.

I am tending today and MyMy is still sleeping. Silly girl! It's almost 9:00, that is unusual. Mal, on the other hand, has some serious bed head. lol (She woke up right after I typed that.)

By the way, this is going to end up being an all day entry.

I think I left my phone home. Dang. I hate that. What ever did we do before cell phones and internet?

I keep neglecting to mention our Christmas Eve. I was great! We went to Dustyn's sister's house and had dinner and games. Fun times, fun times. Of course we had Steak and Crab because that is the tradition. (thanks guys, it rocked)  Then we played a few games. They were even good sports and played Quelf with us. If you have never played it, it is a super crazy game. Crazy, I tell you. But there was definitely good food and good times.  (Thanks again guys!)

Oh yeah, I took ZERO pictures during the Christmas Holiday. What is up with that. I have one small video of Dustyn opening his present and that is all. At least I have that! Oh yeah, and pictures of the race track. :)

Dustyn is so funny with his race track. I walk in the room and there he sits staring at his tracks. (during the 15 minute rest time) He comes up with a new configuration tries it out, makes adjustments, tries something new, and over and over again.  It makes me laugh. He's cute. Here is one of the tracks he came up with last night.

I have a lot to clean up. So many new toys! But for sure a disaster. Guess I should get busy. I guess that is all for now. Have a great Tuesday people!

Brrr...

We went Ice Fishing yesterday!  It was so fun to get out and start off the Ice Fishing Season, but boy was it cold!

It wasn't so bad while we were fishing because we were in a tent.  We all "caught" a fish, but Dad was the only one who actually got his fish through the hole.  The rest of us were having issues and pole malfunctioning, but it was a blast.  And cold.  Did I mention cold?  It really didn't get cold until we were leaving, but the wind chill had to be in the negative digits.  Brrr...

Christmas fun!

We had a great Christmas this year.  It was pretty low key, but great.  We spent the day hanging out, playing games, and watching movies.  What a fabulous day!

We were spoiled yet again.

Of course you all know what Santa brought Dustyn...
I think he is really enjoying it.  And he really loved that I posted the video.  I'm sorry Dust, but is just so funny and perfect!  I love it!
He had only set up the small track.  Here is a blurry diagram showing the small and large track.  Plus, of course you can make up your own.

Santa brought me...
I love it!  I use to have to turn on the radio in the living room and BLAST it in order to hear it in the kitchen... the whole house vibrated.  Now, I don't have to let the whole town listen to my music while I am cooking!  Love it!  Thanks Santa!  ;)

Dustyn brought me all sorts of things...
(the last time he bought me this perfume, I left it in a hotel, brand new.)
I am spoiled.

My parents gave us some money to spend at Costco again this year.  Such a nice gift that lasts all year.  I love it.  They also gave me this scarf, headband and gloves set.  Very cute.

Dustyn's Mom and Clyff gave us these...
A yummy cookbook that I am so excited to use!  I LOVE cooking and I LOVE new cookbooks!  And a pizza stone?  So cool!!  I can't wait to make pizza!

This is a drawing that Dustyn's dad did of Dustyn's grandfather.  They gave a framed copy to each of the kids.  We love it!

My grandparents on my dad's side gave us these...
I love them!!  Grandma's towels are the best!  We have yet to buy a towel since we have been married.  So nice!  I am so excited to use these.

My grandparents on my mom's side gave us these...
Who doesn't need a pair of leather gloves?  They come in so handy and Dustyn loves getting new gloves.  And I am so excited for my new table cloth.  That is one thing that I am lacking in.  Tablecloths.  So that was perfect!

Dustyn's brother got us these...
So fun!  And when we master the targets...
An jungle safari. :) Nice!

My brother, Chet had us this year.  He gave me this...
awesome purse.  I love it.  He has one of his friend's mom make it.  It is so nice!  I absolutely love it!  And it's my favorite color!  :)
Even the inside is cool!

Chet got Dustyn some DVD's.

My sister JaKell get us a present every year even though she doesn't have us.  She is too nice!  Here is what she got us...
And some plate holders and a banana bread mix that I forgot to take photos of.
*edit* Here is the plate holder/picture holders.  Now I just need to figure out what I want to put on them!  :)

My aunt, who I babysit for, gave me a sentsy wall plug with some YUMMY smelling sentsy wax. (snowberry).  I LOVE it!  I was so excited.  It is my first sentsy product.  :)

We also received so many awesome and yummy neighbor gifts.  We seriously live in the best neighborhood ever.  I love it.

So you can see we had a great Christmas and were so blessed to be around so much family!

Thank you so much for being the best friends and family ever!  Love you all!

Dancin' Dustyn

Since today was the last day of school this year, they had a lot of fun activities.  The students were able to pay to get out of class to watch movies, play Halo, X-box and various other activities.  All the proceeds go to a family in the community as part of the schools Giving It Back program.  They earn a good amount of money every year to help a family in need, usually alumni of the school.

Today the librarian made elf yourself videos and had them playing all day on the projector.  Here is the one that Dustyn was in.  Quite funny.  The students LOVED it.

School is officially out for SIXTEEN days!!  Woohoo!

Introducing my newest niece . . .

Little Miss T.
(I don't know the details yet)
Daughter of Dustyn's sister, Alyshia.
Dustyn's mom and lil miss t.

Traditional Caroling

Tonight we went caroling with the youth in our ward.  It was fun, but it was SO cold.  It couldn't have been warmer than 25 degrees F.  So, so cold.  Especially when you are riding on a hay wagon!  It really was fun though.  And we had yummy hot chocolate from the dairy and cookies.  Yum.

I can't believe our weather changed so fast.  Right now it is currently 16 degrees F (-8 degrees C).  Then you add in the wind chill.  Burrrr....  It is a cold night and I am sure it will only get colder!  It is suppose to get down to 2 degrees F (-16 degrees C) tonight. Cold. And winter is only starting!

(I just noticed Saturday's forecast: High: 22 degrees F (-5.5 degrees F)  Low: -5 degrees F (-20.5 degrees C) Time to pull out the coat, I guess!)  :P

p.s.

I got a new niece today.  I told you it was going to be a special day!

And it is Dustyn's half birthday!  (huh Arianne?)

Safari hates me today!

I have been trying to redo all my blog links. Safari is totally not working with me. I get almost all of the links on the list and Safari unexpectedly quits before I can save it. It's quite annoying. I have almost finished the family section about 5 times when it quits. It is a pain to save after every link, but I think that is what I am going to have to do. Ugh. Don't hate me Safari. I still like you! ;)

**edit** Dustyn reads this and says, "You mean Safari hates you ONLY today?"  Nope.  He's right. Safari hates me everyday. But today it really hated me.

What a beautiful day!

This was the scene when I went out side this morning! It was beautiful. A fresh blanket of snow on the earth and low lying fog. You seriously couldn't even see a block away. Half a block was pushing it, but it sure was beautiful.

Here is looking out my front door.

Looking North.

Looking South.

While I was driving down the road.

As soon as I got to my Aunt's house, the fog lifted and disappeared like that. It was crazy. I am glad I had 10 minutes to see how beautiful it was.

Here is Brother Bear (as his sister calls him) watching the beautiful snow!

I can tell today is going to be a special day. Especially for this couple. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers today. We hope everything goes perfect today and in the days to come!

So many things...

I am so sad for so many families right now. Adoption is hard. Please pray for this family, this family, this family, and this family. And sadly, I know there are many more out there facing hard aches. Why does adoption have to be so hard, yet so wonderful. I suppose that is why. Things that are the hardest, always turn out the most wonderful.

Definitely a hard week for adoption.

But there are so many wonderful things happening all around at the same time! I love the Christmas season! I love that it is a season of giving and love.

I am so excited to adopt. I love adoption and the wonderful experience that I get to be a part of. I know it will be hard. Harder than I can even imagine right now. But I know it will be wonderful and totally worth the heart ache.

Heavenly Father loves us and he wants to bless us. He know what experiences will help us for our good. He knows what will make us into the best possible people we can be. He knows each and everyone of us. He knows what we need. I am thankful for this. I am thankful that we have been through the trials that we have had. They have and continue to make us better people. Preparing us to be better parents.

I love this time of year. I love thinking about the many blessings I have in my life. I love remembering the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ and the Atonement. We are so blessed!

It's seriously the best day ever!

I am so excited!  I WON a giveaway here!!  {doing a happy dance} Woohoo!!  I am totally stoked!
LOVE TAMN!
I won a $50.00 gift card to this place!

Christmas Ornaments

I thought I would post all of our Christmas Ornaments - and really, I just need to write it down so I can remember.  Ha ha!

2003
This was our very first Christmas together (engaged).  My aunt Rose gave us this ornament and started the tradition!

2004
This was the year that we lost our sweet Hannah, so this is her ornament.  We keep this ornament out year round.

2005
This year we bought our new house (well new to us).  We spent a lot of time remodeling the entire house.  We even painted our bedroom red, so we thought this ornament was perfect!

2006
This year we were able to go to Chicago!  While we were in Chicago we went on a tour of a few Frank Lloyd Wright houses.  They were amazing!  He is one of my favorite architects.  This is an ornament that is in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright.  We also leave this one up year round.  (as you can tell from the spider web, Oops!

2007
This was a big year for us in learning about adoption.  We were actually approved to adopt in Oct 2006, but it wasn't until 2007 were we really found out what adoption was all about.  We had a LOT of contacts with mothers that were considering adoption, were matched quite a few times, and had quite a few fall through.  This was a year of HOPE, JOY, and WISHing!

2008
This year we have a had a great year, but one of our fun outing was going to Disneyland with Rodney and Carrie.  We found this ornament in the shops there and couldn't pass it up.  I love snowflakes!

Which brings me to our wrapping paper this year.  I love it!  I just had to share!

I hope ya'll are having a very Merry Christmas Season!  Can you believe it is almost here?
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL FOR THE YEAR!  WOOOHOOO!

(sorry about the blurry pictures! :P)
