houdini?

I put Gage to bed.

I guess he wasn't quite ready to go to bed just yet.

He had some playing left to do.

Usually we put him to bed and he's out within 5 minutes.

Probably 10 minutes or so after I put him in bed, I hear a little yell over the monitor.

Dustyn went in to give him his binkie.

He comes back and asked if I left his legs out of the swaddler?

Um... nope.

This is what we found when we walked in.

I just had to laugh. And laugh.

He thought it was funny, even though the pictures aren't showing his joy.

I know the boy kicks a lot, but I am surprised he was able to kick the velcro apart. Apparently I didn't do that great of a job swaddling him tonight.

island park - part 4

Driving home.

We had to make quite a few stops on the side of the freeway.

(we weren't reeeally parking, it just looks as though we are breaking the law)

Gage was so over being in the car. That made for a long trip home. We made a lot of stops and wandered around a few stores to give him a break from the car.

He definitely figured out how to get us out of the car. We'd be driving along, finally making good time, when suddenly the familiar poopy diaper smell would fill the car. We'd pull over and change him in the front seat. He thought it was funny.

He is becoming a thumb sucker.

And he get stuck pulling his own hair.

Sadly, he doesn't know what is coming.

A short break is better than no break.

Right?

And then he realizes what is coming.

The car seat. Boo.

We made another stop in Ogden for a break. Gage was insisting on one.

Jammies on and a little giggle with dad and we are on our way.

We had a lot of fun and are getting better at traveling (packing the car) with more than the two of us.

island park - part 3

Yellowstone

After our trip down the river, Dustyn and I went down to take some photos. Island Park is actually quite beautiful! (not that I was doubting that)

Here is a picture of the cabin from down by the river. Gage was nice enough to wake me up super early (4:30-5:30AM) every morning to make sure that I could watch for the moose that hang around in the area. Sadly, I still never got to see a moose.

Dustyn was playing with one of his large lenses.

The whole week was beautiful.

At one point during the week, we went to Fishing Bridge.

Again, beautiful.

Gage was asleep. We were trying our best to keep him out of the sun all week.

Therefore getting a lot of pictures of blankets and strollers. At least he arrived home sunburn free. That is the important part.

Once Gage did decide to wake up, he was definitely not impressed.

On to Yellowstone.

We had a good time looking for wildlife and walking all the sites.

We saw lots of elk and buffalo, a few deer, 5 bears, 1 coyote, and 1 llama (seriously. who knows why. I think one of the tour outfitters must have lost it. It was far up on the mountain.)

A few of the buffalo were a little too close for my comfort. The rest of my family are in that van. And yes, they do have the sliding door open. Brave?

The geysers were spectacular. So full of color.

Awake one minute.

Asleep the next. (Literally moments later.)

And awake again.

We skipped over the mud pots. (we had pregnant people aboard. Okay, so actually we were short on time and the smell was enough to make our decision easy. Sadly, I can almost smell them now.)

We stopped for a picnic. Gage was so happy to lay on the ground and kick for awhile. Yellowstone is a very long day for a car seat. He definitely welcomed the breaks! He knew how to get us out of the car though. (Notice the outfit change)
