Sometimes I wonder . . .
Why I even bother. Golly.
Why on earth do I even try to do my hair in the summer?
Why on earth do I spend over an hour or two blow drying and straightening it, just to have it frizzy.
Why on earth do I make myself feel like I am in a sauna IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER!
It seems like when I do decide to straighten my hair (rarely these days) I end up spending two hours, and I am never happy with it. So why, oh why do I even try? And then add to the fact that as i am blow drying it and straightening it, I am sweating bullets. I mean dying. *I am currently sitting in front of the fan trying to get my scalp to dry. blah* By the time I get done with my hair, it's time for another shower. So there is not even any chance I can consider using the hairdo for a second day. Seriously.

My hair use to straighten a lot easier. Maybe I need a new Chi. Or something. Or a deep conditioning.
These are the questions I ask myself every time I decide that I like my hair straight. It may not look fabulous curly, but my day does go a little better. :P

Off to finish my mess of hair. Why, oh why.

Blogger Editing Options
Is anyone else having problems with blogger? Or am I just not figuring it out.
I have lost all my editing options. (Unless I enter the codes, which I am so not good at)
And uploading pictures is almost a nightmare.
Anyone else have solutions for me?
Is it happening on PC's?
Or is it just a Mac problem?
It is driving me crazy! =)

And I can't forget my dad. He rocks too!
Have I mentioned that Dustyn rocks?
I have the sweetest husband in the world! On Friday he brought me these:
(can you tell my house is so warm! All of them are opening up)
(yes, this is a terrible picture, but my camera is dead, dead, dead.)
He knew I was having a tough week with my leg (yes my sciatic is out of control.) =P and being home alone. And plus, he loves me. =)
I miss him so much when he is gone. I am so excited that in 4 days he will be home for good and we can start summer! Woohoo!

Some different recipes!
I was watching Studio 5 today and they had a recipe for Pickle Pie. They say it's good. I am kinda interested to try it. If anyone does, let me know what you think! ) I think it actually sounds good!
The Sunglow Motel-Cafe in Bicknell, Utah serves the unique Pickle Pie, developed by Cula Ekker.
This is their recipe, as it appeared in a Salt Lake Tribune article that is framed and hangs on the cafe's wall.
Pickle Pie
Ingredients
5 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. lemon extract
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 cup + 2 tbsp. light cream
1/8 cup margarine, melted
12 oz. sweet pickles, drained and ground
2 unbaked 9-inch pie shells
Method
Beat eggs and sugar until lemon colored and thick; beat in cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon extract, cornstarch, cream and margarine. Stir ground sweet pickles into mixture.
Pour pickle mixture into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour to one hour and 15 minutes, until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Makes two pies.
[edit]Notes
(Some suggestions from the website) Note: Although the recipe says to bake for one hour to one hour and 15 minutes, I'd suggest checking it earlier (perhaps at 45 minutes) just to be safe, because when I tested it at one hour the pies I made were already clearly past done.
Note: I found by accident that increasing the pickles from 12 oz. to about 17 oz. introduces a distinct "fruity" flavor that the original recipe does not have. Both versions are very good, in my opinion!
And then - my friend Lisa posted a recipe that I wanted to try, but have yet to do. I hope she doesn't mind, but I am going to post it here.
Barbeque Spice Cookies
* 1 1/2 cups butter (3 sticks)
* 1/2 cup KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce (or any brand/variety-- I used Kraft honey)
* 2 cups sugar
* 2 eggs
* 4 cups of flour
* 4 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon ground ginger
* 1 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1 cup tubinado or granulated sugar
Melt butter in a large bowl. Add BBQ sauce, sugar and eggs to melted butter and beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda and spices. Add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until flour is incorporated. Refrigerate several hours until the dough is firm. Make dough into small balls (3/4 inch diameter) and roll in tubinado or granulated sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, until firm. Refrigerated dough can also be shaped into a 1-inch thick roll and sliced. Dip the slices in sugar before baking.
So if you want something a little different for the 4th, maybe this will help you out! :)

"Maam"
I am babysitting the twins this weekend.

I have always wondered if there is something that they call me, since they have names for everyone now. But they usually just come get me when they need something.

Well today I think I figured out what they call me. "Maam". They keep yelling it when they need me. It cracks me up. Cute, cute kids. I took some pictures, but I forgot my cord. So these not so focused old ones will have to do! :)
(And really - they probably just want their mom. But this makes me feel better!)

My Bum Leg
So I have had this horrible pain in my leg for almost two months. I just let it go thinking it would eventually go away. Well... I waited and waited and waited. Nothin. It just got worse. I finally went in to the doctor. He decided that it was just a mixture of my sciatica and bursitis of the hip. He decided to give me a shot of cortisone in my hip. No big deal. I thought I'd go home and it would start feeling a little better in the next few days.
Gee Whiz. I am dying. That stinkin' shot made my entire leg hurt worse than it ever even thought about hurting before. I stuggled even getting around yesterday. When I got home from tending the twins, I got in bed and didn't move all night. :P Today it has improved a little but now I have a constant pain in the front of my leg (by my shin). And holy moly it hurts. No relief I tell you.
I am hoping tomorrow is the magic day when it all disappears. I hope, I hope! It is getting so old. I would love to be able to run around and play for the summer!!

1- What is your husband's name? Dustyn
2- Who said I love you first? He did. Actually he said "I think I love you!" Ha ha. But then again, we'd only really known each other for a week.
3- Who is taller? Dustyn - by an inch.
4- Who is smarter? Depends on the day. He's smarter on Wednesday.
5- Who is more sensitive? I would have to say Dustyn. He might argue about this one.
6- Who does the laundry? I do. But he is always willing to put the laundry away after it is washed and folded.
7- Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do.
8- Who pays the bills? I do.
9- Who cooks more? I do. He would, but I guess I don't really let him too often. I should, huh? But he does the dishes while I cook. Now why would I mess up that arrangement! Ha ha!
10- What meals do you cook together? When ever I am cooking for a group or family, I always make him help. But we do cook breakfast together (when we actually cook breakfast - usually on the weekends).
11- Who is more stubborn? ME! For sure. I am sure that everyone who knows me can agree!
12-Who is the first to admit they are wrong? Dustyn. Well - that is if we are upset at each other. If it is something silly where we are just trying to prove a point... I don't think there is any admitting going on. We both can be pretty stubborn.
13- Who is more clean? I would have to say I am. I LOVE things in an orderly clean way. I do not function well in chaos. It doesn't phase him. I can't deal with messes when I don't think he notices them as much as me.
14- Who has more siblings? He does. He has 6. I have three.
15- Who wears the pants in the relationship? Probably me. At least most of the time. But we try to do things together. We always make decisions together - even on silly things that don't matter.
16- What do you like to do together? Camping, 4-wheeling, fishing, hiking, exploring, sleeping, and anything fun. ( I think I am going to have to agree with Meg on this one, although I will add traveling and going to Art Museums.)
17- Who eats more sweets? Dustyn. I do eat a LOT more since I married him. But I think he still wins.
18- Guilty Pleasures? Expensive Food (I agree with Meg here too!) Staying in nice Hotels.
19- How did you meet? I was home for the summer looking for a job after I graduated from college... and lo and behold... a cute boy in the Singles Ward! Yes!
20- Who asked who out first? I asked Dustyn out. He didn't even know my name.
21- Who kissed who first? This is one that we always argue about. I think it was pretty mutual.
22- Who proposed? Dustyn
23- Best features? I love his smile. And eyes. And well. I like all of him.
24- What is his best quality? He is very understanding and lets me be me.

Camp Big Springs
Last Wednesday I decided to drive up to Provo and visit Dustyn at Camp Big Springs. The drive up was so beautiful. I took a few pictures through my windshield. (i know, how great could they be, huh?)

It was good to see Dustyn. I forgot how lonely and boring it gets at home alone. But I survived!
This is Camp Big Springs:

It is so pretty and green up there! I love it.

This is the kitchen tent/dining tent.

Here is a student coming down the zip line.

Here is Dustyn and Bill catching on the zip line.

I really should have got pictures of the skits and camp fire. Dustyn does a couple of skits that are hilarious. One of these years, I so need to get them on video. Such a silly husband I have.
He really enjoys going to camp. I miss him terribly when he is gone, but luckily they don't mind if I visit! So that is nice!
On Friday we drove back home. We got packed and ready and headed off to Fishlake. It was a fun weekend. Of course I gave Dustyn his Birthday present earlier, since he would be gone on his birthday. So here he is checkin' it out.

We spent all day (seriously all day) fishing in the boat. It was a blast. Love it. We trolled and trolled and trolled and caught . . . nothing.

Dustyn did however catch a couple of fish while we were anchored and fishing with spinners for a moment. Here is one . . .

Whoops. I mean here is one that he caught. (and caught again!)

By brother Jace is always entertaining. Such a goof ball, but we love him. He LOVES posing for my camera. And believe me, I have some awesome pictures of him. ;) Someday, someday I will share. Bwahaha. But seriously he is cool.

And of course, we can't forget my cool dad.

He likes to drive fast, but couldn't with all our fat butts in the boat. :P

We had so much fun camping and spending time with my family for Father's Day and Dustyn and my mom's birthday. My mom stayed at camp and read her book and cooked lots of good food. Chet was there too. He came fishing with us in the afternoon, but I didn't get a picture of him. I totally slacked off with taking pictures this weekend.
My grandparents even came up on Sunday and attended church at the Fishlake Branch and had dinner with us. I was sad to come home. But I know there will be more time for camping this summer! Yay! It was a beautiful WARM weekend! (Right now I am wishing I was up at Fishlake in the COOL air instead of sweating in my warm house.)

If your husband was turing 32 years old in less than two weeks . . . what would you buy him for his birthday?
I am so out of ideas.
I just can't think of anything this year! Any ideas would be appreciated.
Oh yeah, and I won't see him for his birthday - so I have a little over a week left.
Poinsettia
(Yes, this is a crappy picture that lost most of it's color when I uploaded it)
So I got this poinsettia around Thanksgiving of last year. It has done really well, until this last few weeks. All of a sudden it is shrinking up and dying. I water it the same as always and haven't done anything different. So I was wondering what anyone knows about Poinsettias. Can they last year round or do they just eventually die? Just wondering if I should throw the towel in and chuck it or keep trying. I am thinking it's about time to get rid of it.
Or do I just need to plant it outside? Hmmm....
I love talking about:

I was tagged by Brittany!
OK This is how it works: I was asked to take pictures of the following things without straightening them up or prepping them, in order to capture real life around my household. Next I get to choose 5 people to do the same. It's kind of interesting to see what shape things are really in without any heads up. Here goes:
1. Fridge.
2. Closet. Man, it looks like we have so many clothes in this picture! Ha ha! (but notice: thanks to Kim, I have new Jeans that I LOVE! Now I just need to get rid of my not so great ones)
And incase you were one of the unlucky ones that never got to see my spiffy closet shelves (that my sweet husband did) here they are:
I love it.

3. The Kitchen Sink.
4. A Toilet. I have no idea why anyone would ever want to see my toilet. But yes, my husband always puts the seat down, and the lid. Nice.
5. Favorite shoes. Love, love these shoes. I would recommend them to anyone!
6. My Favorite Room. It's not organized yet, and this picture doesn't show it all, but of course it's my favorite! :) Now if we could only use it.
7. What my kids are doing right now. Uhm... that's a good question.
8. Laundry Pile. I have three piles. :)

(and apparently a plug for BYU)
9. Self- Portrait.
Yes, I just took this picture. There is NO way I am putting on a normal shot. I am being so lazy today and haven't even showered yet today. :P LAZY! I know!
10. Dream Vacation. Right now? Panama City, Florida. ;)
Don't worry, my house isn't always this clean. I have just had far too much time on my hands lately. Oh yeah, and luckily you didn't ask to see my kitchen floor. :P
I tag Arianne, Jenny, Shell, Melissa, Mitsy, and Jessica. (And really I want to tag everyone, so ya'll can play!)
