Open Season Snippet

Dustyn and I were watching Open Season last night and this part cracks me up!

Absolutely!

Here is my favorite quote! Ha ha ha ha!

Elliot: [when Boog asks where are the toilets in the forest] Don't look now, but I see a little bush with your name written all over it.
Boog: A bush? Are you serious?
Elliot: Go on. Its just like riding a bicycle, only... you're crapping on it.
Elliot: Show us your GRRR face, nature boy!

News from Sevier County!!

On KSL news tonight.

Hole and Rocks: '70 Robbery Still Cold Case
May 30th, 2007 @ 2:09pm
MONROE, Utah (AP) -- It turned out to be a tunnel to nowhere. And as a result, a 1970 bank robbery in this small central Utah town remains unsolved.

While remodeling a former diner in Sevier County, workers discovered a hole in the floor with rocks. Folks were excited: Was this how someone broke into First Security Bank next door and got away with $20,000?

The FBI wasn't interested in the cold case, but the sheriff's office decided to investigate. "There is no tunnel into the bank," Detective Nathan Curtis said Wednesday, a bit disappointed a day after his visit. "It didn't lead us anywhere."

When the building next to the bank was constructed, Curtis explained, there was extra foundation rock. "Rather than haul it away, they dug a hole and buried it there," he said.

The bank, which now houses Monroe city offices, was robbed on a weekend in January 1970. A hole had been burned in the vault door. "FBI Dragnet Spread After Robbery Of Monroe Bank," read a headline at the time, accompanied by a picture of the sheriff staring at the hole in the vault.

A tunnel into the bank would have been no easy feat: The wall is 14 inches thick and 16 feet deep, Curtis said. "It was intriguing, kind of fun," he said of the investigation. "I don't think I've ever worked a bank robbery. "There's been quite a bit of chatter about this," the detective added. "I've got a phone message here from the 818 area code. I don't know where that's that. He may have some information about the robbery."

Tina taking care of Camo!

Camo thought he needed to take a nap in Tina's arms. Silly Camo!! He got bigger while we were gone. But he's fun!

Go Jace, go Jace!!

Jace's catch over the weekend. A 6lb Brooke.

Home Sweet Home

It is nice to be home. I miss Pennsylvania already, but I am glad to be home in my own bed and using my own shower and not living out a suitcase (oh yes... and being able to drive 75MPH on the freeway!!). But it was a great trip... now i want to go back and tour Philadelphia and a few other places. I know, we should have done that when we were there... but we were too busy getting lost in Pittsburgh! But it was all so much fun and I am glad we went.

Today was a good day. We went out to eat with Carrie and Rodney. We went to a Mexican Restaurant that they had never been to but heard of... and heard good things... well I ordered Fish Tacos thinking I was being safe... I mean fish tacos are always good. Wrong! The fish tasted/looked like it had been deep fried and then boiled in water and then served. It was gross. Not only was it mushy and soggy, but the flavor was pretty bland. I know I am picky!

After that we went to the Shark Reef. Always fun! I love it! Then we went to Leatherbys... which by the way... the one in Provo is better!! (Sorry Carrie and Rodney!!) But it was a lot of fun to hang out with Carrie and Rodney! Then we drove home. I was so tired all day and all I wanted to do was sleep, but i really tried not to... and of course now I am ready to go to sleep, and I am not sleepy. Oh well... It's only 1:45!! Good thing I don't work early. I am not looking forward to work. I want a longer vacation!!

I know the pictures are a little (or a lot) blurry, deal with it!! :)

Las Vegas

We made it home safe and sound. We are going to spend the day with Carrie and Rodney and then drive home tonight. We are thinking about going to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and then out for lunch! YAY! I am so excited to be able to spend some time in Vegas!

Departing Flight!

Well the time is finally coming near to go home. It's been a great 4 hours in the airport! But I am glad it's almost time to board. Well we are on time as of now.... so we will be in Vegas at 10:15... but it just started raining.... so who knows if there will be a delay or not. No word as of yet. I just wanted to let Carrie and Rodney know, just in case they checked my blog for info. If we are delayed... we will let you know!

YAY for rain. I wish Utah got rain! No wonder it's green here and brown in Utah. Blah.

So YAY for 100 posts!! Woowhooo!!! I blog too much!

See ya'll soon!

Fallingwater, Mill Run, PA.

Some more pictures of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!

More green.

Anybody who knows Dustyn, know his famous face. What a goof!

Here is a picture of Dustyn showing off the trees!

Here is a picture of how green and beautiful the trees are.

Here is a picture of a small bridge on the way to Connelsville. Allegheny County has more than 1,700 bridges, 720 within city limits, and 15 major bridges crossing downtown. There are a lot of bridges!

Pittsburgh Airport

So apparently even though we didn't have it when we arrived... we have Internet Access at the Airport! Nice! That will make this waiting for 4.5 more hours somewhat bearable! I was not excited to be here and sit here for 4.5 hours. But this airport is nice! It basically has it's own mall inside. Including Gap, The Body Store, Victoria Secret and many, many other stores! It's great. But I think I am shopped and wandered out. I can only wander so long without a purpose.

Not only does it have a lot of fancy stores... it also has an Alexander Calder mobile in one of the lobbys. It's great! It looks a little like this, but it is white and HUGE! It's cool.

going home . . .

Today we are getting ready to fly home. I am kinda bummed. I am not ready to go home. I really love it out here. It has been a great trip and a much needed trip, although I feel the need for another one coming soon! I hope. But most likely not. We'll have to go camping or something. Just away!

We are just getting ready to leave the hotel... then we don't have a lot to do until 4:00 when we have to have our rental car back to the airport. We don't fly out until 8:35 or something... so we have quite a chunk of time to tour the airport... sooo looking forward to that. I love airports!! Just kidding. At least it isn't the Dallas Airport... it was so trashy and stuffy. The Pittsburgh Airport is nice and surprisingly not busy. Not a lot in Pittsburgh seems too busy... or maybe we just missed it all, and that is fine too.

It has been a great trip and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love to travel. But maybe next time I will fly in to Philadelphia! I want a good Cheesesteak!! I have been craving one for so long now... guess I just need to plan one out to Philly.

We we miss you all and are excited to see you soon! Hope all is well at home. We love you! We are going to drive home tomorrow sometime. We might spend some of the morning in Las Vegas. Who really knows for sure. We don't. We aren't about plans on this trip. We haven't had many and didn't follow the ones that we did have, but it was sure fun getting lost in Pittsburgh! Good times!

Well, well.... I think we better leave. No more internet until Utah.... see you all!

Audios! Goodbye Pittsburgh!

. . . opolis

Today we went to see "Fallingwater". It was super neat. I am so glad we noticed it was in Pennsylvania! It is something that I always wanted to see but never thought I would actually get the chance (I thought it was in an exotic land or something, not PA). It was amazing! Frank Lloyd Wright is my hero! We got there and it was a busy day... so we ended up waiting about 2 hours and then the tour was about an hour. The drive up there was so beautiful. Everything is so green and so pretty. There are a lot of fun little towns along the way. After we climed numerous hills, we actually were up to an elevation of 2300ft. Of course Richfield is like 5300ft.. so just a little bit of a difference. Pittsburgh is about 1200ft. But I took some pictures... but the camera is in the car and I don't want to go get it... so later.

We drove back to our hotel in Coraopolis... and it started raining. It was a great rain, lightening and thunder and wind. The rain came down good. I have seen it rain like that once in Richfield/Utah and that was about 4 years ago. It was cool. Everything is so humid. I love humid weather. I am ready to move to Pennsylvania right now. I love the green and the weather. I of course would live away from the city on a township or something... but it is so nice here!

We went to dinner at Bahama Breeze. It was pretty good... but our waiter was terrible. But at least the food was good.

I will get some pictures up soon.

I think the names of the towns here are so funny. It's like they add "opolis" to anything to make a name. Or township. I need to read up on townships, I don't really know what they are... Or borough. I need to do some reading.

Well that is about all for now...

Later!!

Brad Paisley...what a dork.

Of course everyone knows my love of Brad Paisley... We were driving around and this song came on... what the heck?

"Ticks"
Every time you take a sip
In this smoky atmosphere
You press that bottle to your lips
And I wish I was your beer
In the small there of your back
Your jeans are playing peekaboo
I'd like to see the other half of your butterfly tattoo.

Hey that gives me an idea
Let's get out of this bar
Drive out into the country
And find a place to park.

'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight
I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
And I'd like to check you for ticks.

I know the perfect little path
Out in these woods I used to hunt
Don't worry babe I've got your back
And I've also got your front
Now, I'd hate to waste a night like this
I'll keep you safe you wait and see
The only thing allowed to crawl all over you when we get there is me.

You know every guy in here tonight
Would like to take you home
But I've got way more class than them
Babe that ain't what I want.

'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight
I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
And I'd like to check you for ticks.

You never know where one might be
There's lots of places that are hard to reach
I gotcha.

I'd like to see you out in the moonlight
I'd like to kiss you baby way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
And I'd like to check you for ticks.

I'd sure like to check you for ticks...

And then ANOTHER Brad Paisley song came on....

"She's Everything"

She's a yellow pair of running shoes
A holey pair of jeans
She looks great in cheap sunglasses
She looks great in anything
She's I want a piece of chocolate
Take me to a movie
She's I can't find a thing to wear
Now and then she's moody

SHE'S A SATURN WITH A SUNROOF
With her brown hair a-blowing
She's a soft place to land
And a good feeling knowing
She's a warm conversation
That I wouldn't miss for nothing
She's a fighter when she's mad
And she's a lover when she's loving

[Chorus]
And she's everything I ever wanted
And everything I need
I talk about her, I go on and on and on
'Cause she's everything to me

She's a Saturday out on the town
And a church girl on Sunday
She's a cross around her neck
And a cuss word 'cause its Monday
She's a bubble bath and candles
Baby come and kiss me
She's a one glass of wine
And she's feeling kinda tipsy

She's the giver I wish I could be
And the stealer of the covers
She's a picture in my wallet
Of my unborn children's mother
She's the hand that I'm holding
When I'm on my knees and praying
She's the answer to my prayer
And she's the song that I'm playing

[Repeat chorus]

She's the voice I love to hear
Someday when I'm ninety
She's that wooden rocking chair
I want rocking right beside me
Everyday that passes
I only love her more
Yeah, she's the one
That I'd lay down my own life for

And she's everything I ever wanted
And everything I need
She's everything to me
Yeah she's everything to me

Everything I ever wanted
And everything I need
She's everything to me

WHATA? A Saturn with a Sunroof, what is that suppose to be a compliment? A Saturn with a SUNROOF? Serioulsy. Let me tell you, I am driving a Saturn during the present time... I feel like I am driving a lawnmover... I guess a sunroof would be the only thing that might make it better. Just a weird analogy to me.

Sadly enough, I think I like him less, if that is even possible.

IKEA

I was just reading on the KSL News and it said that an IKEA opened in Draper this week! That is soo exciting. Of course I have never been to an IKEA until today. It is my dream store. So many organizational tool, the whole store is full!! I was in Heaven! I am going to have lots of fun next time I go to Draper. I am going to start saving up now!

IKEA Draper is OPEN!

WOOHOO!!
Anyways, It excites me to have one in Utah.

4 AM

Yes, it almost 4 AM. I have been up this late since we arrived in Pennsylvania. Of course that only make it 2:00 by Utah time, but still late. I have no idea why I want to stay up all night. There are only so many posts that I can post on my blog... and this is not one of the exciting ones for sure. But i have nothing else to do!! :) Maybe I will try to go to bed so that I can try to be asleep by 4:00 tonight... that would be nice. We are going to get up early tomorrow and go have some breakfast. Then we are going to leave so they can clean our room. We haven't had it cleaned since we got here... which isn't a big deal... but we have eaten in the bed for a few days... today I bit a tomato and squirted juice all over the bed. Then I dripped some ice cream... it a mess to say the least. We need clean sheets!! I normally can go a week with the same sheets, but I don't really eat a lot in my bed at home! Oh well. I guess I better get to bed. So much to do and see tomorrow!! YAY!!

Poor Hadi

Poor Hadi had a rough day.

HADILEE WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU LOTS!

A cool building.

We were sitting along the river, just relaxing... and there was this cool building. It was quite a ways over there, but I tried to take a picture anyways... worked pretty well.

Some pictures of Us.

So this was a tricky picture... we hung the camera in the tree and used the timer. We had no idea where it was facing or what... and it was swinging in the tree... but hey, the result wasn't too bad. aye?

It was a warm day today... one of the billboard things said it was 94 degrees... who knows if that was correct, but it felt warm. Not as warm as Utah though.

Pictures of Pittsburgh, PA

This is a picture of the Fort Pitt Tunnel. You don't see many of these in Utah, so it was kinda fun!

There are large bridges to get around in Pittsburgh. There is a large or rather two large rivers that run through downtown. It is very beautiful.

Some pictures of the city.

Merging?

So today we drove around Pittsburgh again... There was one thing that I forgot to talk about yesterday and was reiterated to me today. It seems like Pittsburgh loves to merge... it so crazy. You'ld have 3 two lane highways merge into one 2 lane highway and then it'd fork before you even knew it. There is no time to get over... I mean you just barely merged all together into a small spot anyways... so you take whatever road you can. It seems so funny to me. Instead of a stop light and a turn, they merge. I am just a dumb Utah driver that doesn't get it I guess. But I a sure once you got use to it, it would be really easy to get around.

Another thing that I forgot to write about yesterday was about when we went to get the Rental Car... the guy there was so crusty. He just was not a happy camper. So we were trying to convince him that we wanted a car. I had already made reservations online, thankgoodness... because I guess they were out. When we were waiting he asked what kind of car and of course we replied "Economy, please". He looked at us and said, "That means you don't care if it has Power Steering or anything, right?" And of course we replied, "No" while thinking to ourselves... Do they make cars now days that DON'T have power steering... I thought it was a standard feature... I mean sure the Civic doesn't have it, but it's a '89. Thats understandable, but a 2006 or 2007? Most rental car companies only keep cars for a year, then get new ones... so we were sure it was a newer one... and sure enough... they give us a 2007 Saturn Ion 2. I mean not my ideal car, but it does however have power steering.

Change of Plans

Of course we have changed our plans again! We decided that New York and Washington DC just need to be a trip all to themselves. I mean we are going to have to come back! I love traveling!! So we are going to save those destinations for a later date. We were still thinking about going to Kirtland on Saturday or Sunday... but aren't sure yet... but of course anyone who knows me know that I just can't pass up Frank Lloyd Wright... his architecture makes my knees weak. And one of his most famous houses... (Fallingwater, shown above) is 70 or so miles away!! YAHOO!! I was soo excited to find that out. So we have to go there... that for sure comes before all those other sites! And it's closer.

We are going to meet Hilary for dinner tomorrow. We are excited about that. She's so great! I love talking to her... she makes me happy even when she's not happy! She just has a way of cheering my up and making me smile!!

So these are the tentative plans once again... more than likely to change. I wish I could stay out here for another week... or a few more years. I am SO not ready to go back home. It's so nice and pretty. I want to move back east or down south so bad! Someday . . . I keep telling myself. I have Dustyn convinced... I don't know what we are waiting for... oh yes, our 4 year contract with Sevier School District. And I am not sure what our familes would say! :) They could always come visit! :D I mean who doesn't want to take a break from the Desert we live in!! :)

Utah is a place for slow thinkers!!

Here is a really dorky picture Dustyn decided to take... blah!!

So today has been a good day! We slept in and spent the morning doing a little research to figure out where we were going to go. We went back to the airport and and picked up a rental car. We are now the temporoary owners of a maroon Saturn Ion! Wooohooo!

It is beautiful out here. I would move here in a second just for the green trees and the beautiful hills. But on the otherhand, I would be lost on a daily basis. It was fun to drive around and tour Pittsburgh... but it seems the roads are crazy!! Not the drivers, just the roads. We would be going somewhere get lost and end up in the exact same spot 5 minutes later... no idea how we got there... but at least it's easy to back track. We went to downtown and drove around. There are a lot of neat buildings and bridges! It was super fun! On the way to Pittsburgh... we saw a Primanti Brothers. On the flight over, the kid in front of us told us about the best place to eat in Pittsburgh and that was it... so we went. It was.... nothin' great. I don't know if I ordered the wrong thing or I don't like fries on my sandwich. But it was bland and just tasted like I was eating a potato. Maybe I just chose the wrong one to go to, I have no idea. But not to great! Oh well. Maybe we will try again. Maybe not.

We also went to Costco and bought some food to eat until Sunday. It was so EMPTY. Seems like you go to Costco in Utah and you are concerned about being trampled. Here.... it was so quiet and peaceful. So nice!

We have seen numerous road signs that cracked me up. One said something about "Don't get a DUI, you can't afford it!" (it was a road sign like a mileage sign) and the other one was a catering service called Nappies. And the logo was "You'll be happy with Nappie". I have no idea why, but I got a kick out of it.

So we decided here you have to be quick thinkers to drive and get around. It seems like most of the signs are right above the turn off and of course there are three choices... by the time you read the first sign, you have to choose. Crazy. I mean I am sure once you lived here, it wouldn't be big deal. But it is not a city that is easy to get around in. The other problem is that there are random stop lights all over, but here is the kicker... they are tucked back in the trees or on the opposite corner. You have to actively look for the lights. Otherwise you run them!

Here is a random Cemetery. We thought it was funny that it was on a hill. Pretty cool.

This is the shopping center that we can see from our Hotel. But getting over there is another story... and getting back... well it took us a loop but we finally figured it out! YA!! GO US!!

Our Vacation!!

This is our tentative schuedule for our vacation... if anyone has a suggestion on someplace you think we need to visit, let us know, we are open to suggestions!!

Wednesday: We are thinking about just sticking around Pittsburgh and see what's going on here! Maybe hit a local food joint that everyone can't stop talking about. And just have some fun!

Thursday: We are thinking about going to Washington DC and seeing the Temple. Too bad we forgot our recommends. I could kick myself! Then we will go tour Washington DC!

Friday: New York. We are going to ride the ferry over to NY and see the sights and Ground Zero. Spend the days just seeing all the sights.

Saturday: We are going to go see Niagara Falls and go to the church sights in Palmyra. (Sacred Grove, Cumorah's Hill, Peter Whitmore Farm, Martin Harris Farm, Smith Family Farm)

Sunday: Kirtland, Ohio. We are going to go see the Newel K Whitney Store, John Johnson Farm, Isaac Morley Farm/Home, etc. And of course go to Church at the visitor center.

It's a LOT of stuff to see in a few days... but hopefully we will get to them all.

Of course it is all tentative... if anyone has suggestions or know of something that we should see.... let us know!!

We love you all and see you soon!

Pittsburgh, PA

We made it here. It was a long day... and it was about dark by the time we got here.... but we made it. I would have taken a picture if I could have seen something, but tomorrow I will for sure.

Hope all is well at home!! See you guys in a week!!

Hopefully Hilary will be flying home with us on Sunday to stay for a little while... but she's been kinda sick from her Surgery last Thursday.. we are hoping she feels better soon!

Oh yes.... and my stupid eyes.... most of everyone knows that I have sensitive eyes that breakout and itch and get really sore to the point of not being able to wear makeup. Well they have been doing so great the past two months or so. I was sooo excited.... and what happens yesterday/today.... they break out and are all swollen and sore. Stupid eyes! No make up for me for the next month... sorry Hilary. You'll just have to deal with the scary me!!

A little more of a peak... remember still not finished!

The blue on the top half is actually lighter than the stripes on the bottom half, but you can't really tell. Oh well. It looks a lot better than the nasty white walls that were there before... oh yes and the wallpaper. Blah. Dustyn didn't like it too much at first, but I think that it has grown on him. Okay, I didn't like it too much at first, but once we put up the white stripes it looked good!

Sunday, May 20, 2007

A sneak peak for Michelle!

It's not actually finished yet.... we ran out of the little white border stuff, but I will send you a pic when it's actually done. The white border makes it look so much better.... otherwise it's looks like something Retro from the 60's. But I like it!

Hilary

This is Hilary... and Gremlin!

Like how I always steal JaKell's pictures!

Hadi! She must have been really tired!

Happy Birthday Tryen!! (On Sunday)

4 YEARS OLD?? YAY TRYEN!!

Nice Job on the cake JaKell.

You have got to be kiddin' me!

So we went to Chicago in March 2006... so over a year ago. We walked miles and miles and miles while we were there and our feet were so sore. So we went into Dillards, or Nordstroms or somewhere to find some shoes that would maybe hurt in a different place to give our feet a little change and different pain!! :) Well we found some Crocs and thought... well that might just work.... and oh, they did. They were Heaven... and no more pain! It made the rest of our trip bearable. (That and we learned how to use Public Transportation and didn't get lost so much!)

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch and looking at my shoes... I wear them all the time and they are getting pretty wore out. The strap on the back is broke and I think it is just about time to retire them... but for now they are good paint shoes. So anyways... I was checkin out the paint on the bottom of them and suddenly realized they are different shoes all together. They have different logos and styles and everything (just on the bottom)... but here's the real kicker! They are different SIZES!! I can not believe I have gone over a year and never figured that out. I knew that one of them was a little tight and hurt my toes... but I never ever noticed they were different sizes. I wear an 8.5. One of them is an 8 and the other is a 7. I about died laughing. I'm a dork.

Hilary is due at the end of June. We are getting super excited. :) She's going to come visit us for awhile. We are excited to have her come!

Sunday, May 13, 2007

The best Mother's Day ever!

We have been talking to Hilary for a little over a month. She is the greatest! She is so funny and always makes me laugh! She is 20 years old and from PA. Well today, she decided that she would like us to raise her little girl! We are so excited and so happy! We love her so much and could never tell her how greatful we are about her decision. We will love her baby so much and will always let her know how much her Mommy Hilary loves her! We are so excited and have so much to do! YAH!!

We are going to go to PA on the 22nd to meet her. We are sooo excited. She is due in June! So soon! I better get busy!!

Baby Blessings!

Today was a GREAT day. We went to Ryan and Melissa's baby's blessing. It was really nice! I was glad we could be there... but from there we went to Nephi to Ryial and Nicole's baby blessing and had dinner with the family. That was a lot of fun, and family gatherings are always good.

Dustyn's sister, Alyshia had her baby boy this morning @ 12:20ish AM. We drove to Orem to see her. Her baby is really cute! We got to hold him! His name us Maxym.
