Hello?!?! I am trying to SLEEP!

One of these days, I am seriously going to let Bruce lose on those BEAGLES!!  Are they ever going to let me get any SLEEP??  I mean I know my dog occasionally barks during the night - but it is usually at the BEAGLES!

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Hooray!

Well . . . when Dustyn got up this morning he found the mouse!  Yay!  It had found the nice little trap waiting for it.  I am glad and hope that this is the end of our mouse problems - but probably not.  Grrr....  :P

Commercials

Ruthanne likes to post her favorite commercials on her blog - well here is mine!  :)
I really like the music on this commercial - a lot.   Enjoy.

I dare that mouse to run across my living room again!!

Too bad it's probably not going to run that path again, but if it does, I am ready! I think it's in for the night though. Dang.

Not happy!

As I was sitting here minding my own business, this is what I saw run across my living room!I do not like knowing there are mice running around my house.  It has been over a year - probably about two since I have seen one.  I am not happy about it.  It keeps running back and forth.  I have no mouse traps.  I have nothing to catch a mouse.  I went and got a cup.  Thought about it.  Changed my mind.  Now I just get to watch it run back and forth.  If Dustyn were here, we'd catch it.  But I am not going to attempt it on my own.  Grrr....  Guess I better go buy some mouse traps.  Blech!  Oh yeah - I think they live in my couch!  Yuck!

Creativity . . . what's that?

So I am slightly dreading the melting of the snow and the coming of spring.  It forces me to be creative and design a new blog heading.  It feels like I just barely made the current banner.  Ha ha.  Oh well.  I guess I can deal with the creativity issue for some warm weather.  :)

Now it starts . . . thinking . . . thinking . . . thinking . . . thinking . . . thinking . . .

I'll get back to you.

More Snow!

It is seriously snowing! And big wet flakes at that. It's sorta fun! :) I bet we'll have a few inches in the morning.

Nice thing about tomorrow, it's State Basketball and SSHS plays in the AM, so they decided not to start school until 11:30. Nice! We so get to sleep in! Yay! I am excited!

But for right now - my feet are FREEZING! They are always ICE cold. It is pretty painful. I try to put socks on or put a blanket on and that just makes them clammy and even colder! Oh the dilemmas! It's a good thing Dustyn lets me warm my feet on his. And don't worry, he LOVES it.

Another random issue that I have with my feet . . . when I want to go to sleep, they start itching like CRAZY! They never itch any other time, just when I am laying down to sleep. It is like unbearable itching too! So annoying! I spend at least an hour scratching them and trying to let it calm enough so I can quickly fall asleep before I go crazy. It drives me nuts. It just started about a year ago, but I can't find anything to relieve it. I don't have any dry patches, or athletes foot or anything. They just don't like me to sleep.

Anyone have any suggestions? I would be more than happy to help my feet out. I would love to fall asleep an hour earlier! :P Until then, I will survive! :)

Pantry . . . Organized!

It's finally done and it's nice to be able to open my pantry and see what I do and don't have.  I was so excited, I just had to share!  :)This is my pantry. Nothing exciting, but at least I can find things.

And finally, this is a room off my kitchen. I have NO Idea what it was originally for. We haven't done any work in there, except the tile on the floors. But it is starting to have a purpose! Yay! It is also where I hang all my holiday decorations when they are not in use.

I know, I know, not that exciting . . . but it was for me!! :)

One last sad moment for the day. . . my rice cooker died. :( So sad. What am I ever going to do?

The Funky Smell . . .

is finally GONE!
I am really quite excited about it.  I am still not sure what it was. . . but we pulled everything out of the pantry and pulled out all the paper lining and relined all of them.  I smelled them all and they didn't smell.  But after I got everything out, the smell started to fade.  I walked over the the garbage and it now smelt like the pantry!  I had Dustyn quickly take out the garbage.  It's gone!  Yay!  I am excited I don't have to cringe when I open the door now.

And . . . I was able to organize my pantry!  And we got one of those cool Food Storage can rotators.  I am really excited about that too!  So now my kitchen can be organized!  And my sweet husband finally lined the drawers and cleaned them out so I can use them now!  (All of my cupboards on the bottom are actually drawers - really dumb!  And they were all falling apart and yucky when we moved in, so I haven't been using them - except for junk)  Now I have so much room in my cupboards and pantry I have no idea what to do with it!

I love my husband.  (And I am still not feeling the best, so he has done most of it.  I help for awhile, then have to go lay down.  He's such a good man!)

Happy Birthday . . .

She's 30 today! :)

It's time again . . .

I am in desperate need of a hair cut! I have no idea what to do! It is at an awkward, what ever I do to it, looks sad stage. Blah. I just want to go in to someone and give them free reign on my hair. Too bad that isn't how it works. I would LOVE to go super short again, but since my face has gotten a little chubby since my last super short cut, I'm nervous that I might look silly. But probably it's all in my head. I loved the last haircut I had, but I was just too lazy to get up and straighten my hair everyday. I need a haircut where I can just utilize my curliness. Because lets be honest. I don't want to spend over an hour in the morning on my hair. Just not going to happen. When I do straighten my hair, it takes over an hour. And I am so picky with it that sometimes it stretches to two hours. When it's curly I am not nearly as picky. I'm weird, I know. But right now, it is too bulky and layered weird to have it curly. I have SUPER thin hair. I am talking THIN. And frizzy too!

So if anyone has any suggestions for me, feel free to share. I need all the help I can get. And if someone just wants to take over and do whatever they would like to it, I'd be happy with that too! Anything will help!

Yay for Friends!

On Saturday we were able to meet up with Carrie and Rodney in Ephraim! Ten years ago when Carrie and I met, we lived in a basement apartment in Ephraim and were attending Snow College (With Heidi and Nicole). Her parents are currently living there while they serve their Mission at the Gunnison Prison. But it was so fun to go back after so many years and look around. I had forgotten how small it was. I was flooded with all sorts of memories from that little apartment. Oh, the good 'ole days!

It was so good to see Carrie and Rodney! We went to Roy's Pizza (formerly Fat Jack's Pizza) and had Fat Sticks with Cheese and Pizza! YUM! It was fun to visit and talk with them. They are currently trying to adopt as well, so we always have something to talk about! They are approved through LDSFS in Las Vegas, so if you know a birth mother that is considering adoption - I have some seriously wonderful friends! You can see some links to the right! Remember to check them out!! :) Anyways - back to Carrie and Rodney. After we ate we went to Sno Cap Lanes and went bowling. It was fun, but I really, really, really don't do well when it comes to bowling, but I sure have fun! At one point I threw the ball and it was MOVING. The kids next to us hit the reset button. So the bar came down and my bowling ball smacked it right in the middle (I totally would of had a spare - it was a PERFECT throw!!). It hit so hard that it bounced back and rolled all the way back to me (and not too slowly, which I was thankful for). I felt so dumb - even though I wasn't the one who pushed the button. I just knew that the managers where looking at me like I was trying to ruin their ally. Anyways, it was loads of fun. Afterwards we played Air Hockey. Oh yeah, I am not so good at that either and totally lost. Twice. Rodney got a brand new Chevrolet Silverado! Nice! Of course he drove. So we HAD to drag main once! ha ha! We went to Walmart, got some Ice Cream and went back to the house and talked for a few hours! It was so fun! THANKS CARRIE AND RODNEY!! Miss you guys already! Great times!

What's in your purse?

Tagged by Megan!
The Rules: 1. You have to show your bag 2. Show all the contents in the bag, no cleaning it out! 3. Bag tag 5 more people.

Okay . . . so honestly . . . although I LOVE purses, I never carry one. I struggle keeping track of it and whatnot. I usually leave it, who knows where, for months at a time. So what I can show you is what I carry in my pocket everyday! :)

1. My phone.
2. My CC/Cash, etc. coin purse.
3. Lip Stuff
4. My Camera. (Didn't get a picture of that, since I was using it at the moment.)

I'm weird, I know. I do have quite a few purses... I just don't know where I have left them all. Ha ha.

I am going to tag JaKell, Jenny, Brittany, Melissa, and Sarah V. And who ever else wants to play along! :)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

I hope ya'll had a great Valentines Day. We did, for the most part. I am still trying to get over this illness (whatever it is). But we were still able to have our Annual Valentines Fondue Party! Yum!! It was super good, but we were all so full, we had to put off the chocolate for a different day.

Dustyn is a super husband and gave me two sets of new sheets! They are super nice and were very much appreciated! Ours were struggling! But he also put a new set of sheets on the bed and made the bed so me, the sicky, could lay in bed all day today and take a 4 hour nap in my new sheets! Isn't he such a wonderful husband? I sure think so! I love him!

Over at Arianne's blog, she posted a video and I got a good ab workout!  I about died laughing and I just had to share it!

Book Tag

I was tagged by Brittany! Here is how it works:

Pick up the nearest book (one of at least 123 pages)
Open the page to 123
Find the 5th sentence.
Post the next 3 sentences
Tag 5 people.

The book nearest to me right now is "Doctrines of Salvation" by Joseph Fielding Smith.

"It has happened at times that the brother conducting the exercises when given an introduction has taken a good part of the time allotted to the speaker. This is a fault frequently indulged in by inexperienced priesthood officers. Brief introductions will be appreciated by the brethren, and very brief comments, if any, are necessary at the close of their remarks."

I tag Shell, Her, Amy, Jessica and Jenny!

Trolley Square Shootings

There were a few asking about what happened.  Here is the basic rundown that was given the day after.

Six Minutes of Terror, Retracing the Shooting Rampage
February 13th, 2007 @ 4:57pm
Jed Boal Reporting

A clearer picture emerged today of what happened last night. Not an exact time line, but a good map of where the gunman shot his victims, and when police took him down.

Around 6:40 p.m. Sulejmen Talovic parked his car in the west terrace, got out of his vehicle and immediately shot a father and son.

He entered Trolley Square and immediately shot a woman.

Chief Chris Burbank, Salt Lake City Police Department: "This individual had one thing on his mind. He was well-prepared."

At 6:44 p.m. police got the call that a man was shooting people in Trolley Square. He moved eastward in the mall and shot five people in a gift shop.

Barrett Dodds, Witness, Store Owner: "The guy kept shooting and shooting. And I thought 'Someone's got to do something.'"

Store owner Barrett Dodds and his father were upstairs. Dodds grabbed a stool, hoping to get a chance to throw it at the shooter.

Talovic shot one more woman inside Pottery Barn Kids.

Barrett Dodds: "He just kept shooting, reloading. Shooting, reloading."

Dodds helped motion an off-duty Ogden police officer into a face-off with the shooter. Salt Lake City police arrived and heard shots inside. One Salt Lake City officer joined the Ogden officer in a gun battle with the gunman.

Wally Dodds, Witness: "That Ogden cop was behind a big brick column. When he would shoot at that Ogden cop you could hear the BBs hit... what sounded like a splat when they'd hit that column."

Once the gun battle began, it wasn't long before Talovic went down.

Chief Burbank: "Within three minutes of receiving the call in our dispatch center, officers arrived at Trolley Square, and within six minutes the suspect was contained."

Wally Dodds: "I think the guy wanted to get shot. And, boy they gave him his wish. You can't believe the number of shots."

There was a flurry of activity in a brief period of time. Six minutes from the first call to police to conclusion.

Trolley Square Shootings

One year ago today. . .
This last weekend we drove around Trolley Square.  It was the first time I have been around there in years.  It seemed weird that one year ago a tragic event happened there.  I remember going to Trolley Square when I was a kid.  It was different this time.   You couldn't help but feel for the victims and survivors of this tragic event.

Cold/Flu

Sadly, I think it is finally hitting our house.  I am NOT excited.  Bleah.

New Shoes!

After looking and looking and searching for some good shoes to buy, I finally broke down and bought some.  So far I really like them.  They are comfy and offer arch support which is completely essential for me!  I wasn't crazy about the color because I know that I will get them dirty, but all the ones I wanted, they did not have in my size, of course.  (They have some other really cute colors!!)  So I am now the happy owner of new shoes!  YAY!  It has been FOR-E-VER since I bought new shoes.   I was so excited I even threw out my old shoes at the Mall.  :)  But for the first time in a LONG time, I actually have to TIE my shoes.  Sad, I know.  I also like the other styles they carry.

New Things!

I am all for trying new things - but I never know what to try.  So I thought hey, why not turn to YOU!!

I am asking for your favorites!

What is your favorite type of EYE SHADOW? EYE LINER? SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER?  TOOTHPASTE? MAKE-UP REMOVER? Mousse/Gel? Hairspray?

What is your favorite type of EXERCISE?

There are a few for today!  I am excited to try out some new things!

Sportsman Expo

Over the weekend we went to SLC to go to the Sportsman Expo.  My mom's elk was in the show.  It was a lot of fun and we saw a lot of cool things! Alan Jackson was in town as well.  So my dad bought us tickets to go to the show.  It was cool!  :)
I know this is a really bad video, but it is off my cell phone. But this is how mom and dad viewed the sportsman show. It was pretty funny!
On Saturday night we were able to meet up with some friends and go to the Cheesecake Factory!  YUM!  I love that place!  But . . . it took FOREVER!  We had to wait over an hour to get in, then about another hour to get our food.  I think we were there for a good three hours.  It was fun, but I had a MAJOR migraine!  I couldn't handle all the loud noises and chaos!  Maybe that is why I was so irritable!  But I was quite annoyed at the whole situation.  We have been there quite a few times before this and everything went smooth.  But I guess it just wasn't our night!  But at least we ate good food!

And of course, no pictures!!  I am slacking off when it comes to my camera!  Bad, I know!  But I forgot it in the car for most of the time.

A funky smell . . .

Every so often we get this funky smell in our pantry and down our hallway.  It happened a few months back and I searched and smelled and searched and smelled and took everything out and looked some more.  I never found the culprit.  But the smell went away and I never thought about it again - until a few days ago.  It's back!  I believe this the the third time is has been back.  But it seems like there is a 6 month or so break in between.  Weird.  It is a really strong meaty garlicky smell.  It reminds me of a strong salami smell.  Salami that has been setting out for a day or two.  I have no idea what it is and it is diving me nuts!  I have smelled around and around and can not find the source!  Grrr......  Anyone have any ideas?  :)  Wanna come sniff my pantry?  I would love to lose the smell for good.  I promise I wouldn't mind.  But until then I have stocked up my febreeze air-fresheners and sprayed everything... it still smells!  It is so strong that nothing helps!  Yuck!

Guilty Pleasure

Not to long ago I was looking at a blog that was talking about guilty pleasures. I was trying to think about what mine was. . .what I really enjoyed. After a long time, I finally figured it out!!
Homemade Tortillas!
I just cannot get enough of these! The problem: I can not make them the way they should be made. I have tried and tried and although they are good - they just don't compare to real homemade tortillas (say like the ones from Cafe Rio - YUM!) So since I can't make them the way they should be made - I found a pretty good alternative!
Uncooked tortillas! They are SO good! They are the closest I can get to the real thing! YUM! (By the way - you can buy them at Costco or Wal-Mart)

And with my homemade tortillas I like Mozzarella Cheese, Tillamook of course!
And Avacados . . . YUM!
And we can't forget . . . my FAVORITE salsa! (besides homemade)
YUM!!

Our Valentines weekend in Salt Lake City!

Yes, I am finally getting around to blogging about our weekend in Salt Lake City. It was definitely fun but went way too fast.

We drove up to Salt Lake on Friday after school. We went shopping and messed around. I was able to pick up my ring that has been at the jewelers for at least three weeks - so I was happy about that. We also ran a few other errand and went to Costco and Ikea and just had a good afternoon. We drove up to Salt Lake and checked in at our hotel. We stayed at Hampton Inn (of course, bad sadly it wasn't $29.00 a night :P ). That night we got hungry for something good - but didn't want to go out, so we ordered in Pizza from The Pie. It was super good! We ordered the Greek Pizza and it was Yummy! I wasn't sure what to expect - but I love greek food so I figured it would be good and it was!
On Saturday morning we watched President Hinckley's funeral.  I am glad I had the opportunity to see it and to listen to the stories that were shared.  He was truly an amazing man.  We spent the afternoon driving around window shopping. I am STILL looking for a good pair of shoes and a jacket. (I know winter is getting close to being over - so I finally decided that I should get me a jacket. Dustyn would be happy so he could wear his own!!) But no luck. I just don't know where to shop anymore. We found some really cute coats in the mall and I was excited to get one - they were all too small! Grrr..... so I am still looking. At least we got to eat at Cafe Rio so the trip was worth it!! My back is still not ready to shop on hard floors so it was a quick trip.
Saturday night we went to the Blue Man Group. It was a lot of fun and crazy! It was so random, but a lot of fun and great music. Afterwards we went to the Thaifoon and had dinner. It was so good. I love that place!!
On Sunday we took a drive up the the Salt Lake Cemetery and were able to see President Hinckley's grave.  We drove around and found most of the other past LDS Presidents.  It was really neat.  I have never driven through the cemetery and looked at the headstones.  I would really like to go back and spend a little more time there (preferably when it's a little warmer!!).  We were also able to meet up with a friend and hang out for awhile.

One the way home we went and visited Dustyn's mom. It was good to see her. Then the drive home!!! It took us almost three hours to get from Genola to Richfield. It was crazy and slow. The roads were bad and there were cars off the road all over the place. But we finally made it home. While we were driving, Dustyn was watching The Ultimate Gift! From what I could hear - it was a really good movie. If you haven't seen it, you should rent it!

Well that is about all - that was our weekend to Salt Lake City. Of course I forgot to grab the charger for my camera and it was pretty much dead so we didn't really get photos. Just a few.

I found one of these YouTube videos on my friend Trevor's blog.  It cracked me up - so I thought I would share!  :)  Here is the list of all of them.  Too funny.

Exciting News!!!

For me at least!  Look here!
