happy 900th post

Today was a pretty fabulous day.

I didn't get everything accomplished that I wanted to, but I got to spend time with my family. That is all that really matters.

Gage of course was looking extra cute, as always. He sweats so much and sucks on his fingers and starts smelling mighty pretty. I can't even believe how stinky his little toes can get. He was starting to smell like a dirty sock so we gave him a bath today. (We usually bath him every 2 or 3 days. I guess since it's summer we are going to have to bump that up.) The exciting thing about this? He gets to wear two outfits in one day! Now of course this means more laundry for me, but there is a chance he just might get to wear all of his clothes before he grows out of them.  He has a lot of 3-6 month clothes. It's fun to have so many options.

Brandon, JaKell and the kids are in town visiting for the 4th of July. We are excited that JaKell is expecting in Feb 2011! Gage will have a cousin fairly close in age on my side! Hooray! (He has quite a few on Dustyn's side) Not only will he have one new cousin, but two!! Jace and Katie are also expecting early 2011 as well! We are so excited for all the new cousins!

Gage will not smile for cameras. He stops the minute he sees one. It's quite funny. We were trying to get him to smile and this was the look he was giving us.I wish he were in focus. :(Followed by this look.Almost a smile! Of course Grandpa can get him to smile.

Gage decided that he was getting tired and was ready to go home. We loaded him up in the stroller and he settled right in. We thought he'd be asleep in seconds.
Nope, Wrong. He was suddenly wide awake.
Off we go!

I want to get back to blogging again. 

Real blogging, with actual words.

I need to. I want to remember these days with my cute baby.

Since July is my most favorite month, I am hoping for a blog everyday. We will see if I can deliver! It shouldn't be hard with this cute face around.

Things have been so good at our house.

Dustyn is out of school for the summer, so we just chill and hang out together all day. I love it. I am already dreading school starting again. Luckily we still have another month and a half.

Dustyn and I had the opportunity to attend a Yearbook Camp up at Snowbird. We took 4 students with us. It was a lot of fun and even more work. I am glad we were able to go, but I missed my baby way too much. I don't think anyone will ever be able to convince me to leave him again. We found out as soon as we were up there that we could have taken him. I was pretty bummed. I know he had fun at grandpa and grandma's house, but we sure missed him. We were gone for three days. Of course I didn't even take one picture. I left my camera with Grandpa and Grandma.

I am so excited it's July! I am sure you all remember how much I love July! I am so excited for the 4th! G is too! I picked out his 4th of July outfit long before he was born. I haven't even tried it on him because I am trying to save it for the big day! So exciting!

As many of you know, Gage is getting a few more cousins within the next year. Hooray. I am so excited, but more about that later. We are hoping for at least one boy. :) 

Dustyn and I went to Eclipse with Jace and Katie. It was pretty fun. The theater we went to was terrible. The sound was horrible. Gage didn't mind. He slept the entire time. Of course. (did I mention he's the best baby ever?)

This was his 2nd movie. His first was the A-Team at the drive-in. He did awesome during that movie too. Me on the other hand... I totally missed the whole movie. I was completely distracted and couldn't tell what was being said. Really? I wasted my 5 bucks. I can't wait to go again! I love the drive-in. I think Toy Story 3 is there this weekend. We might have to go to another movie! It has been months since we have been to a movie, I guess now we are trying to pack them all in and make up for lost time. I don't mind. 

I love being a mother. I love Gage more than ever. He's such a cute boy and is always smiling. He is a very content baby. He sleeps so good. We are so blessed to be a part of his life. We are so grateful to Korin. I miss her so much and I wish I could see her and give her a big hug and thank her for making us parents. She is my hero. I love her more than I can express.

I am reminded of her every time I look at my baby boy. I love that Gage looks just like her. His eyes, his smile, his hair. Everything. You can most definitely tell where he came from! I love that I have that little reminder of Korin every day. It always brings a smile to my face. The older he gets, the more of her we see in him. 

Gage went on his first camping trip a few weeks ago! He loved it. It rained pretty much the entire time so we stayed in the tent where it was nice and warm. This is what Gage thought of that.

Gage has some crazy hair. I love it.

It gets more and more unmanageable everyday. I can't get it to stay down or stand up. It has a mind of it's own and does what it wants. It is getting so thick and so long. I can't imagine having to cut it. We'll see just how crazy it gets.

Life is pretty great. For sure.

My family needs help.

This is a letter that my Aunt sent me about my cousins.  Some of you may know Mistie (Mistie Borg Myler - RHS class of 1979).   If you are in the position to help, please contact Aunt Teresa.  Please feel free to pass along the information to anyone you know.

Thank you so much.  It means a lot to my family.

Mistie Myler is the mother of 5 young children. For the past several months Mistie has been suffering from headaches which despite physical therapy continued to grow in intensity. The Doctors finally ordered an MRI which is when they found a tumor the size of a golf ball they scheduled surgery for the following morning and due to the rapidity in the tumors growth it was now the size of a large lemon----over night! The tumor was located on the left portion of her cerebellum. Following a biopsy it was determined to be a very deadly form of cancer (Medulloblastoma) due to the invasive nature of the cancer it is going to require at least 6 weeks of Radiation (5 days per week) AND Chemo therapy on her head and spine. She will get radiation sickness & rash (& pealing skin); hair, memory, math skills loss as well as an impaired immunity system. She will be extremely sick & weak from the aggressive treatments & will need to stay in Cedar City for the radiation therapy and the beginning of her Chemo treatments. They are hoping to be able to complete her Chemo in Gunnison which would allow her to be with her husband and older children during this scary battle. Her 2 1/2 year old daughter is with family (Justin’s sister Lisa) in Arizona. Justin will bring the other children to visit Mistie in Cedar City each weekend if they are healthy. But the youngest will remain in Arizona until Mistie is strong enough to be able to take care of her. Although it is HARD for their little Laura to be gone they knew that it was easier on her to be in one place and not shuffled back and forth between homes while Mistie is gone and Justin is working and taking care of the older kids.

Justin has been struggling with debilitating headaches and seizures the past several years, and yet he has still worked hard and been able to support his family. Mistie and some of the children suffer from asthma which has lead to periodic hospitalizations and on going treatments. These factors may seem small but when put together they have prevented them from being able to fix up their small 3 bedroom mobile home as quickly as they would have liked to. But it is theirs and they love it and it was sufficient for their needs until a few months ago when Mistie's aunt came to live with them; after they learned she was not being cared for properly. Mistie’s aunt is a very kind person but suffers from several health conditions which require daily assistance and Justin and Mistie could not stand the thought of her not being properly taken care of so they invited her to move in with their family. However with her moving in this has put their 3 sons out of a bedroom and they are now sleeping on the couch, recliner and floor in the small front room until they finish the basement. Finishing the basement seemed like an easy thing to do, however, in light of what is now happening in their family the time and money has to be spent elsewhere. When the basement is finished there will be enough room for a bedroom and a food storage room. Right now the only entrance is from the outside so there needs to be some light carpentry work done so it can be accessed from within the home.

Despite there circumstances both Justin and Mistie have served each other, their children and their communities. Because of their love and service there have been many that have been blessed, and never have they expected a return. Both Justin and Mistie serve diligently in their respective callings in the church and refuse to let these problems get them down. However as many of us know it can be consuming trying to do it all and with the fear of the unknown staring them in the face their time and efforts have just become more complicated. BUT their attitude is great “What good would it do to just sit in bed and cry”. Their faith and determination WILL get them through this trial but family and friends can help ease the burdens. If we can lighten their load even a little it will be received with open arms.

I am asking for you & your children to contact all your friends, family, co-workers etc. and share Mistie's story. Ask for a small donation for them.
Also, ask them to contact their friends and family for donations too. Explain that we are only asking for small donations ($5 to $10 per person in most cases). This way no one is burdened and many can help. Please forward this to anyone who may want to help, if a lot help a little miracles can happen.

I will bring the donations to Justin and Mistie the last week in December when I come to help watch children and do some repairs and painting to make their home feel more comfortable. If you have any questions or can offer any help I can be reached at 480-704-4333. We will need helpers to help with light carpentry work and painting. Donations of supplies can be dropped off at the Myler home in Sigurd or we can pick them up if you are in the Richfield area.
